The Gathering on the Mountain is an annual music festival held in early August at Big Boulder in Lake Harmony. Typically the Gathering is a star studded weekend of great music acts. This years festival featured the Tom Constanten, It's a Beautiful Day, The Byrds Celebration, Levon Helm & The Barn Burners featuring Amy Helm, Blue Floyd, Hot Tuna Electric, Zen Tricksters, David Nelson Band, Derek Trucks band, The Radiators, Merl Saunders & His Funky Friends and String Cheese Incident. An awesome lineup to say the least! The scene is friendly, upbeat and packed with thousands of music lovers of all ages. Big Boulder is a perfect setting for music festivals and is one of the most scenic backdrops for a festival. The stages are at the base of the ski slopes and Big Boulder Lake provides a stunning view behind the stages. The staff at Big Boulder is very helpful, friendly, courteous and provide for a safe and enjoyable music festival experience free of any hassles or attitude. A variety of food, vendors, and clean plentiful restrooms helps to make the weekend a good and carefree time to soak up some amazing sounds and relax with friends and family. People come to the Gathering from all over the country to have fun, check out the tunes and hang out. Local camping at Fern Ridge Campground is conveniently located a few miles from the venue and is a beautiful place to rest up for the next days music. Fern Ridge offers a nice, clean, scenic place to camp. There are cabins, tent sites beautiful streams, and a friendly staff. There is a nice selection of amenities, pool, clean showers and cool trails to wander around on. Be sure to make the scene at the Gathering as well as all the festivals at Big Boulder...if you can't have a good time , it's your own fault.
